Overview

Oklahoma's birding benefits from its position at the intersection of several major habitat types. The shortgrass prairies of the western panhandle support Lesser Prairie-Chickens and Burrowing Owls, while the Ouachita Mountains in the southeast harbor eastern forest species. The salt plains of the north and the Red Slough in the southeast are top birding destinations. TrailBird is expanding to cover Oklahoma's birding hotspots with live eBird data, trail maps, and seasonal guides.
